The State’s Attorney is the public’s prosecutor; responsible for bringing criminals to justice, making victims whole, and building a safer community. The Chittenden County State’s Attorney is responsible for prosecuting the biggest caseload, overseeing the biggest staff, and serving the biggest population center in the State of Vermont. That person must be both an experienced trial lawyer and a seasoned leader.

Ted Kenney has 15 years of experience conducting jury trials in Vermont courtrooms. He has represented hundreds of children, parents, adults and guardians under Juvenile Defender contracts, Public Defender contracts, and as private clients. He has run his own law practice, managed employees, kept a budget and made a payroll.

Ted was elected as a Justice of the Peace in his hometown of Richmond in 1986. He served on the Board of Civil Authority there throughout the 1980’s and ‘90’s. Ted now serves his community as a member of the Williston Selectboard. Prior to that, he was elected to the Williston School Board, represented Williston as a member of the Chittenden South Supervisory Union School Board, and was selected to be on the CSSU teachers’ contract negotiating committee. Ted has served as President of the Vermont Dismas House (Burlington) Board of Directors and Vice-President of the Dismas of Vermont Board. He was elected Chair of the Chittenden County Democratic Committee in 1993, served as its vice-chair twice before that, and served as Chair of the Richmond Democratic Party in the 1980’s and 1990’s.

Ted’s campaign will be a campaign about concrete proposals, not catchphrases. He will tell you, using concrete goals and measurable objectives, what he intends to do as State’s Attorney to protect children, fight domestic abuse, deter drunk driving, and prosecute drug offenses.
